Dive Brief:
- ML Krakauer took the reins as EMC's CIO last week, replacing Vic Bhagat, who joined EMC as CIO in 2013.
- In November, Dell confirmed that Paul J. Walsh, who served as CIO since 2014, was leaving. Scott Pittman was named interim CIO.
- EMC is preparing to merge with Dell Inc., which announced a $67 billion deal to buy the company in October.
Dive Insight:
Krakauer previously served as the executive vice president of business development for global enterprise services and head of global human resources at EMC before taking over as CIO. Earlier in her career, she was a vice president and general manager in Compaq’s global services business when it was acquired by Hewlett-Packard Co. in 2002.
Dell and EMC may be looking to leverage Krakauer’s integration experience as they move forward with the merger.
An EMC spokesman said Krakauer is “an influential EMC leader with extensive experience working with customers to design, implement, integrate, support and operate their IT environments.”
