New York, NY, March 13, 2025 – Inc., the leading media brand and playbook for the entrepreneurs and business leaders shaping our future, today announced the launch of the second season of its award-winning podcast series Computer Freaks. Hosted by Inc. editor-at-large Christine Haughney Dare-Bryan, Computer Freaks season two will explore the dawn of internet entrepreneurship and its broader and irrevocable impact on our culture.
The six-episode narrative podcast season will be led by Inc.’s own reporting on that time and will be a deep-dive into the early web browsers, e-commerce companies and search engines. Starting with early companies like Netscape, digging into one of the first online stores, a hot sauce shop called HotHotHot, and ending with a then small company called Goto.com whose technology helped a then struggling company called Google to be wildly profitable.
This season marks the switch from Computer Freaks season one, which told the history of the Internet straight from the mouths of its pioneering inventors – including Dare-Bryan’s own father Joseph Haughney – season two will dive deeper into what happened next, and how it led us to some of the most notable internet founders whose names we still know to this day, like Marc Andreessen.
“My father, Major Joseph Haughney, ran ARPANET for the Department of Defense from 1979 to 1981. When he was diagnosed with dementia in 2022, I gathered more than 100 hours of audio interviews with him and other early founders about what the internet’s creators dreamed of for this fledgling technology and that was the focus of our first season, says Dare-Bryan. “The second season of Computer Freaks moves to the 1990s, and looks at a time period when great fortunes were created by Jeff Bezo, Elon Musk and Marc Andreessen while many others were lost.”
This season features extensive interviews with internet pioneers from companies like Google, Overture, Netscape and more. New episodes are available every Thursday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
