- ArcBest Corp., Autoliv Inc., Lowe's Cos Inc., Winnebago Industries Inc., and Zions Bancorporation have all seen CIOs join their boards since February.

These relationships on the boards are becoming increasingly sought-after, according to The Journal. While it can be an investment CIOs or their companies are hesitant to make, it's an investment that may pay off given the sharing of ideas and practices.
"There's a huge number of organizations that feel left behind in technology change and business process change," said Steve Chambers, former CIO of Visa Europe and member of the board of Travelport Worldwide, Ltd. "A lot of boards are saying we need people on the board who have been through that type of journey."
