Dive Insight:
Deloitte's new practice could work to boost Apple's enterprise presence. The companies' intentions are to allow other organizations to use iOS, iPhone and iPad for things like recruiting, R&D, inventory management and back-office systems. The practice also wants to help businesses design and implement iPhone and iPad solutions.
Punit Renjen, CEO of Deloitte Global, said Deloitte’s workforce is already using more than 100,000 iOS devices and 75 custom apps.
Having already dominated the consumer market, Apple is turning to enterprise sales. During its Q3 earnings call, CFO Luca Maestri said Apple plans to continue to sharpen its enterprise focus. There's also room to break into the corporate mobile market since BlackBerry's exit.
Last year, Apple said it generated $25 billion in revenue from its enterprise business, representing about 11% of its total revenue from June 2014 to June 2015. But that number, Apple CEO Tim Cook said, is a "very small amount compared to what the opportunity is."
