Wingstop named Chris Fallon as SVP and chief information officer on Wednesday, as the chain prepares to leave Olo’s platform for its own tech-suite in H1 2024.
Fallon joins the chain from Fortune Brands Water Innovations, a home water management company, where he worked as CIO. Prior to that, he worked at Starbucks for 14 years and had duties which “spanned retail back-of-house, corporate, licensed stores and CPG technologies.”
Fallon’s position requires him to “serve as a technology evangelist and strategist,” by “developing internal organizational capabilities, enhancing all digital functions, and driving an aggressive digital agenda both internally, and with external stakeholders,” according to the job posting.
Wingstop’s digital orders are key to the company’s sales, according to the press release, accounting for 66.9% of its sales in Q3.
The company, CEO Michael Skipworth has said, is trying to digitize every transaction. To that end, the company spent three years and $50 million building its own technology to allow it to leave Olo’s system. At the time, Skipworth said the new proprietary tech would protect Wingstop’s digital business and enable it to hyper-personalize offers and grow repeat visits.
According to the job posting, the CIO role is based out of the company’s Dallas headquarters and reports directly to the CEO.
The company was searching for a candidate with “a vision for end-to-end restaurant technology solutions that aligns and integrates with the company’s digital strategy.” Fallon, according to the job post, will be responsible for all applications and systems in restaurant technologies, supply chain, finance and human resources.
