Dive Brief:
- Twitter is adding former Facebook CTO Bret Taylor to its board of directors.
- Taylor also was a founder of FriendFeed, a social network Facebook acquired in 2009.
- Twitter has added several board members since CEO Jack Dorsey returned in 2015.
Dive Insight:
It only makes sense that Taylor would tweet the news:
Excited to join @twitter's board. Twitter is one of the most important services in the world, and I'm thrilled to be able to work with @jack
— Bret Taylor (@btaylor) July 5, 2016
"@jack" is CEO Jack Dorsey, who offered his own tweet:
News!: @btaylor is joining the Twitter Board! Bret brings world class experience, insight, & thoughtfulness around building social services.
— Jack (@jack) July 5, 2016
TechCrunch notes that this is the latest in a series of additions to the board of Twitter, which remains an obvious social media powerhouse but has disappointed some investors. Other additions since April: Pepsi CFO Hugh Johnston, BET CEO Debra Lee and entrepreneur Martha Lane Fox.
