Dive Brief:
- The most popular AI apps among workers are ChatGPT, Grammarly and Google Bard, according to a Netskope report. The company said it reviewed data from millions of users at thousands of organizations worldwide.
- Employees are also widely using paraphrase tool QuillBot, custom GPT maker Chatbase and conversational platform Blip for AI capabilities, according to Netskope’s findings.
- Despite the momentum behind the tools, just 10% of enterprise employees use at least one generative AI application every month, up eight percentage points from a year ago, Netskope’s data shows.
Dive Insight:
Employees will further increase their reliance on AI assistants in 2024, specifically tools built to help with writing and programming tasks, according to Netskope.
ChatGPT is the most used AI app by employees
“Their integration into commonly used tool sets for writing and programming and the fact that they are specifically designed and tuned for those tasks will fuel their popularity growth,” Netskope said in the report. “The fact that they cannot be used for entertainment purposes will also likely remove barriers to their adoption in the enterprise, whereas other apps, like general purpose chatbots, may suffer.”
Enterprises started rolling out centralized generative AI tools internally last year, and analysts expect the trend to continue.
Procter & Gamble introduced chatPG to employees in September hoping to increase worker productivity and enhance user experiences. Deloitte announced Monday it launched an in-house generative AI platform for coding and researching, with plans to roll it out to 100,000 employees in the next six months.
Walmart also laid out plans earlier this week to expand generative AI access to 25,000 more employees after its My Assistant generative AI tool launched in August.
