Dive Insight:
Glassdoor's list, released annually, compiles the self-reported salaries of people in a variety of positions across industries.
"This report reinforces that high pay continues to be tied to in-demand skills, higher education and working in jobs that are protected from competition or automation," Glassdoor Chief Economist Dr. Andrew Chamberlain said in a press release. "This is why we see several jobs within the technology and healthcare industries."
Nearly seven in ten (68%) people report that salary and compensation is among their biggest consideration when determining where to work. But, Chamberlain reiterated, salaries are not always the most important consideration.
"When we dig deeper into what keeps employees satisfied once they’re in a job and with a company, we find that culture and values, career opportunities, and trust in senior leadership are the biggest drivers of employee satisfaction," Chamberlain said.
The IT talent gap has been an ongoing concern for CIOs. Employers across the U.S. posted more than 850,000 IT job openings during the first quarter of 2015. That’s 55% more than in Q1 2014, according to labor market analysis firm Burning Glass Technologies.
