Dive Brief:
-
A new survey commissioned by Centrify found that few of the Apple devices used by employees at work comply with standard enterprise security requirements.
-
51% of those surveyed who use Apple devices at work said their Apple devices were secured by single-word passwords or numerical PINs, and 58% of those devices had no software or policies to enforce the use of stronger passwords.
-
Only 28% of respondents' Apple devices had company-provided device management solutions.
Dive Insight:
Nearly 60% of the respondents' Macs in the survey were used to access confidential company information, and 65% of those systems were used to access sensitive or regulated customer information.
Centrify said the results demonstrate the high usage rates of unmanaged Apple devices in the workplace and reinforce the risks businesses face when tech professionals don't have the resources to make employee devices are in compliance with their security policies.
