Tech leaders at Western Union, Sysco, and SunTrust Banks each received $2.4 million last year, Network World said.
All of the CIOs in the report are among the top earners at their companies, though they aren’t necessarily the highest paid CIOs in the U.S. Nor are they typical of a CIO at a smaller company.
A recent report from Payscale found the typical CIO averages an annual salary of $156,266. The top CIO salaries were found in Los Angeles, where the typical IT leader averages 45% more than the national average.
