Dive Insight:
IoT can bring huge new inflows of data into an organization. But figuring out what to do with all that data can be challenging. Companies need to determine how all this information can come together in one place so they can actually use it. SAP says its new tool can help with that, as well as help companies determine what data to pay attention to and even how to respond to problems or anomalies.
The tool could be an asset for companies attempting to track information in real time. SAP points to manufacturing companies attempting to predict machine break-downs or food spoilage in a supermarket as examples.
Big Data from IoT and other sources holds huge potential in the enterprise, but as with most technologies, there are obstacles to overcome as well. The more vendors can come up with automated analytic tools, the easier it will be for customers to take advantage of data.
