Dive Brief:
- Adam Bosworth, executive vice president at Salesforce, is leaving to take an unknown senior position at Amazon Web Services, according to a Fortune report.
- Bosworth is a well-known leader in the technology industry. He previously worked at Microsoft, BEA Systems and Google.
- He has led much of Salesforce’s software development agenda over the last three years, including its IoT unit.
Dive Insight:
Bosworth is leaving the leader in cloud-based business software to join the leader in public cloud.
A Salesforce spokesman confirmed to Fortune that Bosworth is indeed leaving "to pursue opportunities outside the company."
While at Salesforce, Bosworth was responsible for spearheading parts of the company's software development, particularly in the IoT space. Its possible that by moving to Amazon, Bosworth could help launch new software initiatives at a company known for its reign in the public cloud infrastructure market. His past experience as a former vice president of engineering at Google could also prove helpful.
But, one can only speculate on Bosworth's exact position and title at AWS is officially announced.
