Report: Windows 10 running on 50M devices... and counting

  • According to unofficial figures from WinBeta, Windows 10 is now running on at least 50 million devices worldwide.

  • The “free upgrade” approach Microsoft is taking has helped boost Windows 10 downloads, PC World predicted.

  • Experts say they expect to see Windows 10’s installed base continue to grow rapidly in coming weeks.

If WinBeta's unofficial figures are correct, Windows 10 is off to a very good start. According to Microsoft, Windows 10 was on 14 million machines within just a day of its introduction. In comparison, it took Microsoft six months to sell 100 million Windows 8 licenses in 2013.
