Dive Brief:
- A new Pew Research study found that a majority of Americans now go online every day.
- Young people were most likely to be heavy internet users. 36% percent of people aged 18-29 said they go online "almost constantly.”
- More educated people and those with more income also reported going online more frequently.
Dive Insight:
The survey was conducted by phone with 2,001 Americans aged 18 and older.
Of the 87% of survey respondents who reported going online at all, the most common option chosen was that they go on "several times a day.” Black respondents jumped on the Internet slightly more often than their white or Hispanic counterparts.
The numbers were higher for people equipped with a smartphone or tablet: 87% of mobile device owners go online daily, compared with just 65% of those without.
