Dive Insight:
Using Windows 10, people can now let friends access their home network without having to provide them with a password. But the new feature, called Wi-Fi Sense, has ignited controversy online from people that believe no one should leave Wi-Fi access wide open.
Microsoft, meanwhile, is pitching Wi-Fi Sense as a security feature, explaining that contacts who are able to log into a network only using Wi-Fi Sense don’t actually see the password, will only have access to the Internet and won’t be able to get to any other computers or other devices on the network. But security advocates say it’s possible that someone sufficiently motivated would be able to find and extract the wireless password for any network they get access to.
