Dive Insight:
28% of surveyed businesses used a cloud-based productivity and email suite in 2014, compared to the 48% who employed one this year, Bitglass found.
But experts say the usage rates might reflect an increase in cloud adoption among established businesses that Microsoft has long-term relationships with. Google's former lead might be due to early adopters jumping in the space ahead of slower-moving, large companies.
Experts say small- to mid-sized businesses make the shift to the cloud easily since they don't have legacy investments to protect.
