IT security firm BitSight Technologies recently examined IT security perceptions versus reality at a number of organizations and found a large number of them think their security is better than it actually is.
BitSight founder and CTO Stephen Boyer said the companies that are best prepared have made security a priority, allocating resources to it, monitoring, detecting and responding to security issues.
Boyer recommends organizations that wish to improve conduct a risk analysis to determine key assets and how to protect the business, get organizational buy-in, allocate resources and strive to be effective in execution.
