- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said it has appointed Lawrence Gross Jr. as its new CIO.
- Gross was formerly CIO at the Agriculture Department's Farm Service Agency.
- Gross will advise the financial regulatory agency’s senior officials on IT program management, investment, planning, security and governance issues.
Dive Insight:
Gross has more than 25 years of combined federal and military service in technology-related positions. Prior to the Farm Service Agency, he was a deputy CIO at the Interior Department and associate CIO at the Treasury Department. Gross has also worked in IT areas at the Energy Department, Justice Department and Navy.
Gross takes over after the previous CIO, Barry West, was put on administrative leave in June for reasons that remain unclear.
