Dive Brief:
-
Bask Iyer, chief information officer and IoT manager at VMware Inc., has been named interim CIO of Dell Inc., according to The Wall Street Journal.
-
Current Dell CIO ML Krakauer is taking a temporary leave of absence for “personal reasons,” a Dell spokesperson said.
-
This is the third chief information officer for Dell in less than a year.
Dive Insight:
Paul J. Walsh left the company last November. Scott Pittman was named interim CIO following Walsh’s departure. Krakauer took over after Dell completed its merger with EMC. Now Iyer will assume his Dell duties on an interim basis as well as continue to serve as CIO of VMware.
The Dell/EMC merger was expected to spark some internal changes and already generated a few leadership changes, such as Michael Dell taking up the role of chairman of VMware’s board of directors, replacing Joseph M. Tucci. But so far it looks like Iyer’s move will only be temporary, and Dell is likely looking for some stability post-merger.
