Learning how to code can make a job candidate more marketable, demonstrating a widely-applicable, yet hard skill that employers demand.

But it can also improve communication, problem-solving, teamwork and digital skills, according to the volunteers behind National Coding Week.

Each year in September, National Coding Week encourages learning and practicing digital skills. Through a digital skills challenge, volunteers encourage coders of all skill levels to flex their creativity, this year by programming an object to go through an obstacle course.
