"The internet as we know it today, and the network that you operate, will not work for the Internet of Things," Trollope said in a keynote presentation Tuesday. "We can solve that problem because we own the network."
Trollope said Cisco is also currently working on a new program that would improve IoT security and hopefully prevent further botnet attacks that take over insecure IoT devices to do their dirty work.
Security concerns around IoT devices are growing, and companies like Cisco are looking to capitalize on those fears with more secure IoT networks and offerings. The company has worked to build its IoT capabilities as its traditional network business has slowed.
