Cisco announced Tuesday the hire of a new senior leader for its data center group.

Roland Acra will rejoin Cisco as the senior vice president and general manager of the Data Center Business Group, according to a Cisco blog. Under Arca, Cisco hopes to help customers redesign their networks to support future hybrid cloud plans.

Arca will be tasked with "defining the next phase of our data center strategy and driving development for our data center portfolio," David Goeckeler, senior vice president and general manager of Cisco’s Networking and Security Business, wrote.

Arca had two previous stints at Cisco, and Goeckeler says his experience and knowledge of the company will help him unify its data center group. With the hiring of Arca, Cisco will now be able to combine all its data center assets under one leader, Goeckeler added.
In March, CEO Chuck Robbins announced he was reorganizing the company's 25,000-employee engineering unit. Since then, the company has seen a number of executive shakeups. The unit was reshuffled just two years earlier under former CEO John Chambers.
In September, Robert Soderbery, the head of Cisco’s enterprise engineering division announced he was leaving the company, according to a post on LinkedIn. Then last month, Cisco’s chief technology officer and top cloud executive, Zorawar Biri Singh, announced he was leaving the company as well.
