Dive Insight:
The survey found that the most successful CIOs increasingly walk a fine line between ensuring the company’s IT stability and pushing for innovation. But innovation comes with challenges, too. The survey found that only about 50% of all IT projects succeed.
Among the biggest CIOs challenges: areas outside of IT (marketing or finance, for example) that are increasingly controlling how the company’s tech budget is spent.
The report also found continuing support for cloud adoption primarily for its ability to “enable agility and responsiveness, system availability and innovation." The most commonly cited challenges to cloud adoption were security and data integration.
