Chrome averaged a user share of 29.5% in August. The 1.7 percentage point increase is the biggest growth spurt since December 2014.
Dive Insight:
In the last year, Chrome's user share has grown by 9.9 percentage points, its largest 12-month increase ever. In the last year, Mozilla's Firefox declined 3.6 points.
A year ago Microsoft announced that it would stop supporting most versions of Internet Explorer other than IE11 this coming January. Perhaps as a result, Internet Explorer is on pace to drop under 50% by January.
Meanwhile, Microsoft's new Edge browser gained ground last month, reaching a 2% user share.
