- This year's edition of Best Jobs of 2020, a yearly ranking from jobs site Indeed, is peppered with tech positions. Out of the top 15 roles, eight are in the technology space. In last year's ranking six tech jobs made it to the top 15.
- Software architect (No. 1), full stack developer (No. 2) and development operations (DevOps) engineer (No. 5) made it to the top five roles in Indeed's yearly ranking. Between 2016 and 2019, postings for full stack developers grew 162%. Increasing demand for data scientists gave the role a significant boost: from No. 22 in last year's ranking to No. 8.
- Indeed shapes the list based on job post volume, salary and share of postings for each of the roles. The base salary from these jobs range between $75,266 and $184,586.

The dearth of talent is top of mind for decision makers, as 46% of employers expect the size of their workforce will increase due to expanding technology adoption, sister site HR Dive reports.
Employers chasing talent that fits these titles will need to distinguish themselves, Indeed said in the blog post announcing the ranking. A high salary is a must, but company benefits and perks sweeten the deal.
Fierce competition to attract top tech talent is the new normal, especially in hubs such as San Francisco and New York. But experts say a remote work strategy can help unlock new talent pools by removing a company's reliance on one specific geographic area.
