Dive Brief:
- Amazon Web Services will acquire NICE, an Italian SaaS firm.
- NICE offers a variety of cloud, grid and consulting services, dovetailing into some of Amazon's offerings.
- Amazon will keep the NICE brand intact.
Dive Insight:
The announcement was made on AWS' blog late last week. "As Jeff Bezos often says, it is still Day One and we don’t have all of the answers yet. However, I did want to share this news with you and let you know that we are looking forward to meeting and working with our new colleagues," Jeff Barr, chief evangelist of AWS, wrote in a blog post announcing the purchase.
Amazon expects to close the deal by the end of this quarter. In Barr's post, he said NICE customers "will continue to receive world-class support and services, enhanced with the backing of the AWS team."
NICE touts clients like Airbus, Northrop Grumman and Harvard Business School, according to VentureBeat.
