Dive Insight:
USAA, which, in addition to its industry leading property and casualty division, has lines of business in banking, investments and life insurance, has been reshaping its tech leadership for over a year.
The insurer promoted Darrius Jones to SVP of enterprise digital, design and innovation in September, a customer-facing technology role.
Jones had previously directed companywide innovation through USAA Labs, an in-house tech incubator.
Ramnik Bajaj joined the company as chief data and analytics officer in May 2021, after a three-year stint heading up data operations at Wells Fargo.
USAA lost a member of its tech leadership team in November, when Mary Beth Eckert, then SVP and CIO of corporate and insurance services, was hired by Pacific Life as chief information and digital officer.
The new appointments will help USAA continue its digital transformation, Duggirala said in the announcement.
