With AI adoption plans underway in the enterprise, analysts expect tech talent gaps to persist in 2024. Job seekers recognize the the potentially favorable conditions as they turn to the open market in search of their next role.
“It’s encouraging to see the vast majority of workers recognize the need for continuous learning and building their digital fluency in AI and other areas,” said Hannah Johnson, SVP, tech talent programs at CompTIA, in the announcement.
One-third of job seekers say they searched for training and skills development as they sought new career opportunities.
How AI adoption will change job demand remains to be seen. The outcome will depend on the types of roles and tasks impacted, and whether or not AI replacements are up the task.
One-quarter of global CEOs project their companies will trim headcounts by up to 5% as they enable generative AI, according to a PwC report released in January. Results vary by industry and, by contrast, 2 in 5 CEOs expect a net headcount addition of 5%, according to the survey.
